BOOKINGS & AVAILABILITY

  • Please remember that the AVAILABILITY page on the drop down menu of the BOOK A SWIM page of the website will give you details of when there is bookable swimming available and when the pool is open for free swimming or lane swimming. So please check.
  • Please ensure that if you are unable to take up the lane that you have booked you cancel this as soon as possible to allow another member to take your place.
  • You can now cancel a booking directly from the link in your confirmation email.
  • The pool is generally quieter in the late afternoon open swim sessions (even in warm weather), or early evenings at the weekend, so there is usually opportunity to swim lengths at this time.
  • The new evening Lane Swimming has proved popular but it has not been overcrowded so it can be a great time to swim.
  • Lane Sharing: We have been told by many members that they would be happy to share their booked lane with another swimmer. In order to facilitate this we will trail a new system of attaching a flag to the lane marker to indicate that you are happy to share. Any member who then comes by the compound or arrives early for their booking could join one of these identified lanes. The flags will be available in the signing in room, so please take one but remember to put it back after your swim.

SECURITY

  • Entering/leaving the pool compound: Please be aware that the gate no longer makes a loud beep when you present your card on the card reader. Please make sure that you hold your card against the reader and also pull/push the gate at the same time.
  • Closing the gate: Please make sure that you close the gate properly when you leave the compound. The gate operates on a magnet, so do check that the magnet has actually engaged otherwise the gate will not be locked.

VOLUNTEERING

  • Thank you so much to all of you who have volunteered to help keep the pool clean and tidy and to those of you who have already completed duties.
  • We still have cleaning slots that need to be filled, especially on the weekend. Have a look on the WEEKEND VOLUNTEERING ROTA page on the website. If anyone is able to cover any of the duties please let Bettina know on membersec@sherepool.org.uk  stating which slot you can cover. Many thanks in advance!
  • If you are new to volunteering and are unsure what you need to do, please reach out on membersec@sherepool.org.uk

BEHAVIOUR

  • On a more serious note, we have been made aware of a small number of incidents where rules around child supervision both in and out of the water have not been followed. As a club that operates without lifeguards it is imperative that the rules are followed to the letter. Please see Club Rules, which you will have received upon joining. Please can you ensure that all those listed in your membership and your guests are aware of, and adhere to the rules. To protect the club, sanctions will be issued if these rules are not adhered to. This could include suspension or termination of membership.
  • We would also ask that everyone associated with the pool are courteous to each other at all times.
  • Thank you for your support in ensuring the pool is a safe and welcoming place for all to use.

That’s it for the May update. As always we are delighted to hear from you so please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

All the best
