It is with a very heavy heart that we approach the end of our swimming season and this will be our last newsletter for 2025.
The weather has been incredibly kind to us all season and we do hope that you all had a wonderful time.
As the days keep getting shorter we are required to change the pool opening & closing times. From Monday 6 October the pool will be open from 6:30am to 18.30pm.
The last day of swimming will then be Sunday 19 October 2025.
WINTER SOCIAL & AGM
Details to follow, but an opportunity for the committee to thank and raise a glass to all our members for their incredible support and our army of volunteers for their amazing help this season

Please note that the Shere Village Car Park is free after 6pm
EVENTS
This month we will host our last coffee/tea swim and also our closing party. Please check the homepage, just in case we need to cancel/move the date of the event.
- Thursday 9 October - 130am to 11.30am Coffee/Tea Swim
- Sunday 19 October – 2pm to 4pm Closing Party. During the free swimming we will be serving teas, coffees and hot chocolate as well as some traybakes. Please feel free to bring something to share with your fellow members if you wish.

Lost Property
Could we please ask everyone to have a look on the lost property shelves before the end of the season, to see if any of the items belong to them. Any non-claimed items will be disposed of in November. Many thanks!
Thunder & Lightning
We need to remind all members that swimming when there is thunder and lightning is not safe. The best way of explaining it is to say:
“It is like putting a hairdryer in the bath”
Water conducts electricity, so the water in the pool is more likely to be struck by lightning than the ground around it. Also the electric charge is able to travel though water.
So please don’t take any risks and leave the pool compound immediately.
Gate
Please, please, please ensure the gate is properly closed when you leave the compound. It is very easy to assume the gate is shut, but unless you give it a quick tug on your way out it may not be! And as we all know, that is a security risk.

2026 Membership
Please remember that your 2025 membership does not automatically renew to the next season and you will have to apply at the appropriate time, depending on whether you are a local (1 January 2026) or a remote member (1 March 2026).
