June 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to the June Newsletter!

We are very pleased to say that the new path to the swimming pool compound is now open and has already been tested by many of our members. Photo shows the first of our members using it.

This much more level surface will greatly improve the accessibility to the pool and hopefully will also ensure less dirt is brought into the pool compound.

Thank you for your patience whilst we had to let the grass get established.

You might have also seen our two new picnic benches. A massive thank you goes to Steph and Jay, and their team of the William Bray in Shere, who have so kindly donated them and also delivered them to us. Not a small task!  We are so appreciative and we wish them all the very best with the reopening of this much loved venue.

I am sure you will all agree that our gardening team, led by Philippa, is doing an amazing job and the tubs are looking stunning as well as the hedging outside. MANY THANKS to all involved.

Talking of gardening. The Shere Open Garden will take place on Sunday 29 June. It is an amazing local event, which raises money for lots of charitable causes, and has also donated money to the Shere Swimming Pool on occasions.  Many of you will already be involved in some way, but there are roles which still need filling, so please get involved if you can. EVENTS

This month we have three events lined up for you. Please check the EVENTS page for details.

  • Friday 13 June - 9pm to 10.30pm Twilight Swim
  • Thursday 19 June - 30am to 11.30am Coffee/Tea Swim
  • Monday 30 June – 10am to 10.30am Toddler Splash

Again, no need to sign up for any of them. But, as always, they will be weather dependent, so please check the website for updates.

Also please be aware that the original dates of some future events had to be altered slightly, so do keep checking the website.

SIGNING IN

  • We would like remind all members, that it is really important that when you sign in you do not also sign out at the same time. This applies even if you are sure that you will be leaving the pool at a certain time.
  • Our insurance policy demands that we accurately record when members are at the pool. So if there was an emergency and one would have to leave the compound in a hurry, if you were already signed out, our records would be inaccurate.

 GUEST PAYMENTS

  • You may not be aware, but we rely on guest payments to supplement the very reasonable annual membership fees that are charged.
  • We would therefore appreciate if all members could ensure that they pay for their guests using one of four methods: Guest Tickets (if you still have them), Bank Transfer, QR code (found in the signing in room) or cash (however could you please ensure that all cash is actually the full amount and also that the money paid is in Pounds rather than a foreign currency). Many thanks!
  • The cost for guests is £2 per adult and £1 per child.

VOLUNTEERING

  • Firstly thank you so much to everyone who has come forward last month to fill some of the empty spots on the rota.
  • We still have a few spots unfilled on both the weekend WEEKEND and weekday WEEKDAY rota so please do let us know on membersec@sherepool.org.uk if you can help.
  • Many thanks in advance!

As the weather is getting warmer please be aware that the pool will get busier. So please be thoughtful and show respect to your fellow members.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments.

All the best
