July 2025 Newsletter

Dear Members

Let’s hope this wonderful weather continues all through July!

We had the most amazing Twilight Swim in June, even though the original date of Friday 13th had to be moved to Saturday 14th. The turnout was great and everyone had a lovely time. Thank you for all your support.

The coffee/tea swim last month was held in glorious sunshine and everyone who attended loved the chats with other members and a dip in the pool. More to come this month!

We held our first ever Toddler Splash on the last day of June. What a fun event! We will definitely be repeating that in future.

Whilst we love having all our little ones enjoying the pool, can we please remind everyone that under the rules only babies over the age of 6 months are allowed to splash in the pool and that everyone who is not potty trained needs to wear an appropriate swim nappy. Many thanks!

THANK YOUS

Shere Delight has very kindly donated some hand soap dispensers for our toilets!  Thank you so much, this should help with keeping hands clean but floors soap free!

Also a massive thank you to Richard Kirby, who has given us some great advice and also provided some invaluable help with ridding us of the worst of our weeds!

EVENTS

We will be holding two events this month. As per usual, no need to sign up, just come along. But be aware that, if circumstances do not allow for an event to take place, we will post a message on the homepage of our website.

This month we have two events lined up for you.

  • Saturday 12 July – 3pm to 4pm Kids Inflatable Madness
  • Friday 25 July - 30am to 11.30am Coffee/Tea Swim

Please check the EVENTS page for details.

VOLUNTEERING

  • We continue having unfilled spots on our rota. Please have a look for gaps on the WEEKEND and  WEEKDAY rota and please do let us know on membersec@sherepool.org.uk if you can help in any way.
  • Many thanks in advance!

FREE SWIMMING AND EVENING LANE SWIMMING

  • Could we please remind all parents/guardians/grandparents that the pool is available for free swimming from 3pm to 6pm every weekday (from 2pm to 6pm during the school holiday) and from 2pm to closing on the weekend. We are thrilled that the children are clearly enjoying this time and are having great fun in the pool.
  • Evening Lane Swimming starts at 6pm and goes on to 7pm during weekdays only. This time is set aside for all those who want to do continuous swimming without having to book a lane. We would therefore ask that, out of courtesy to your fellow members, you and your children do actually vacate the pool at 6pm to allow for this to happen.
  • Obviously any children/teenagers, ,who do want to do ‘proper’ swimming, are more than welcome to participate in the lane swimming.
  • Additionally, could we please request that all toys/flippers/boards/woggles etc which have been borrowed from the signing-in room for fun in the pool during free swimming are returned. Even if you have not brought them out of the signing in room yourself it would be much appreciated if everyone just picked up something at the end of the free swim and put it back…because at the moment everything is simply left on the sides.
  • Lastly, we are aware that bouncing on the pool’s lane ropes is great fun for most of the kids. However, you may not be aware that continuous misuse of the ropes will put strain on the metal bars on the side of the pool and could lead to breakages of the pool wall, which would have serious financial consequences for the club. We would therefore respectfully request that all parents/guardians/grandparents ensure their children refrain from doing this. Many thanks!

CHILD SUPERVISION

  • Could everyone please take note of the rules regarding child supervision not only apply to the pool itself but also the pool compound as a whole.
  • In fact, the club rules state:

Warning: If you are found to have left a young person or persons unattended within the enclosure your membership will be terminated.

  • We remind all members that you have signed these rules and agreed to abide by them.

SHARING YOUR LANE

  • Quick reminder that if you are happy to share your booked lane with another member, please put a flag from the signing in room on your lane marker. This will indicate to others that you are happy to share.

GUEST PAYMENTS

  • We still continue receiving cash payments which are not legal tender in this country. Could you please ensure you only pay using Pound Sterling (which are in date) when you make cash payments. Many thanks! As said before, the pool does rely on this additional income.

ACCESSIBLE SIGNING IN

  • Please remember that for those who find the signing in room challenging to access, there is a signing-in book in the accessible toilet for your use.

NON MEMBERS GAINING ACCESS TO THE POOL

  • We need to make you all aware that one of our members has recently been followed into the pool compound by a non-member. Our member did challenge this trespasser but was met with verbal abuse.
  • PLEASE PLEASE do not open the gate to anyone outside of your party! And as a member, please do not expect another member to hold the gate open for you. It is really important that each entry and exit is registered by the gate. We are not insured if we do not keep accurate records and should any accidents happen to someone not registered, we may be in a position which will force us to close the pool!

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

All the best
