Dear 2026 SSPC Member
Firstly, a massive thank you for all the very generous donations we have received this year. They will help enormously in making many of our projects, including a warm shower, a reality. We also want to thank everyone who came to join us on the 7 March for the pool compound clearing and cleaning morning. We couldn’t have done it without you and the compound now looks fantastic!
Because of everyone’s hard work we are now in a position to open the Shere Swimming Pool on Friday 3 April. And we are hoping to keep the pool open until Sunday 18 October. However, should we come across any last minute glitches we will put a message on the homepage of the website to let you know, so do keep an eye on the website.
OPENING WEEKEND
POOL OPENING PARTY. Friday 3 April – 2pm to 4pm
We are planning to serve some teas, coffees and soft drinks in the afternoon of the first day of swimming. So please come along and meet some of the other members. There is no need to sign up, just come along. But do keep an eye on the website homepage just in case there are any last minute changes.
Everyone’s gate cards will be activated for the opening of the pool. Anyone who is a new member, or who requested a replacement card should now have received them, so if you do not have your gate card please contact Bettina, the membership secretary on membersec@sherepool.org.uk
Over the Easter weekend the pool will be open for general swimming and lanes will not be bookable. The booking system will be operational from Tuesday 7 April. Slots will then be bookable on the BOOK A SWIM page of the website. sherepool.org.uk/book-a-swim
VOLUNTEERING MORNING. Saturday 18 April – 10.30am to 11.30am
Please come along to find out what volunteering is all about. You will be shown where all the cleaning equipment is and what to do for the various rotas. It is also an opportunity to meet some of the other members and to ask questions on all things volunteering, not just the cleaning rota.
No need to book, just come along.
MAKING THE MOST OF THE POOL

Interestingly the pool is often very quiet during the late afternoon free swimming slots so do go along if you fancy a swim.

This year the booking system will be sending a reminder of your booking the night before. We are hoping that this measure will further reduce the number of no-shows.
As in previous years Shere School and Clandon School will have use of the swimming pool for their swimming lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays (12.30pm to 3pm). The times will be clearly marked on the AVAILABILITY page of the website.
Additionally, be aware that due to the change of day-light hours throughout the season, the times of opening and closing of the pool will vary. The actual times can be found on the Swimming Schedule 2026 - Shere Swimming Pool Club on the website.
SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS
We have attached the club rules, and we remind you that it is your responsibility that you and all your family members are familiar with them. In particular we would like to highlight the following points:
- SIGNING IN- The terms of our insurance require all users of the pool to sign in and out. It is vital you do this on every visit, even if you are not swimming. The signing-in book is located in the room on the right as you enter the gate and also in the accessible toilet for those who are unable to enter the signing-in room.
- GATE CARDS- Along with signing in, everyone must also use their own gate card for themselves, their family and guests, to enter the swimming pool compound. Please do not open the gate for anyone else, even if it is to be friendly. The gate records all entries and exits and for insurance reasons we must have an accurate record of all movements. Thank you for your support in this.
- TEENAGERS- If you have family members, aged between 16 and 18, they are permitted to use the pool unaccompanied, butonly if we have received a written confirmation from you. Please email the membersec@sherepool.org.uk with their name(s) and giving your consent. Please note that teenagers are not allowed to bring guests or younger siblings.
- GUESTS- All guests must be accompanied by a member and the appropriate number of tickets or cash must be used and placed in the box provided. Alternatively, the QR code in the signing in room can be used to make an e-payment or you can make a bank transfer direct to the SSPC.
- VOLUNTEERS - Please check the ‘CLEANING ROTA’ on the website sherepool.org.uk/cleaning-rotato see if you have been assigned a rota for this season and mark the dates in your diary. Don’t forget there is a weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday) Weekend - Volunteering Rota - Shere Swimming Pool Club and a weekday rota (Monday to Friday) Week - Volunteering Rota - Shere Swimming Pool Club. If you are not currently on the rota but are able to fill one of the empty slots please let Bettina know on membersec@sherepool.org.uk . Your help is very much appreciated!
- TOILETS– Please be advised that the toilets are not able to cope with any other products beside toilet paper!!

MERCHANDISE!
We do hope that you all agree that our ‘new look’ website and logo has brought a very welcome refresh to the club and we are very excited to let you know we now also have branded swim caps and swim bags available to purchase. They will be on display in the signing in room and you will be able to order them via the membership site Shere Swimming Pool Club . Just use your email address to log in and go to YOUR MEMBERSHIP / STORE PURCHASE. Alternatively you can emailing membersec@sherepool.org.uk with your order.
